Default SSD commission custom build

Started this a short time ago. It will be 24" in length when done, as requested by the client. Also included in the display will be 5 SD's. They were ordered from shape ways. They look decent for the scale they are. They will take some clean up and heavy primer, but they will compliment the SSD nicely.

Did a quick foam-core board mock up for volume.

13 engines and counting.
Executor is an awesome design and ILMs miniature is one of the best they ever built.
Even at 2ft it's going to be a bigger to get a sense of scale.
Looking forward to following this...

very cool! I love the SSD - it's by far the best looking SW ship.
I have the Korbanth 38" version ready to build - just no where to display it afterwards.
Are you intending to make a kit out of this one? Or at least would you consider it? I know a fair few people that would look at one
What are your plans for the 'city' part of it in terms of parts?
Will this be lit?

Hey MH,

I guess I could elaborate a bit more.

I do not have plans to kit this, I would consider it, once I build this one and see how much work it really is. This is a on-of custom build, and it will be lit. I am using Madman Lighting kits to get this very large lighting job done.

For the city components, lots of styrene and kit parts. I will probably make some small sections that can be molded and reproduced to complete various sections.

I also plan to do something different with the stand, I hate the 'up the middle of the model' thing like a bung stick or an ugly telephone pole.

Thanks for looking!!

well, I'm hooked. The stand sounds interesting - I'm always up for seeing something different.
So when you say kit parts, I'm assuming you mean ship and/or armour - but what scale are you looking at? 1/700 or 1/1000? I would think anything bigger than 1/700 would be too big wouldn't it? The detail would be good to.

Very interested in how this is done.

I am thinking about magnets, but lots of research to do there. A stand is more likely. Its the positioning of the stand that will be different, and I hope, and an improvement for displaying a model.
