I recently recieved a box of resin bits. Kind of a grab box of sorts. After sorting through the parts i found there are 2 complete 1/100 VB6 Konig Monster kits in it. Apparently they are meant to be variable models. I am not a fan of variable kits HOWEVER i will be making both of them. One as a Gerwalk /monster and the other in the more rarely seen battroid. So keep an eye out this will be a slowish and kind of long build. The instructions i could get arent that clear. Fortunately there was a partially assembled 3rd one in the box but there arent enough parts to complete it or id have the thing in all 3 modes.
Foot subassemblies are coming together. Im holding off on teh toes and side flaps until i get more of the monster together. Then i can adjust to fit a more dynamic pose. Some slight heating of resin is due for some parts as they dont quite fit the top of the foot. I also have the gun barrels mounted to their base.

The Monster is a beast rightly named! Sounds like some real great luck to get three in a box! And although you can't build all three, perhaps one can do a damaged version, like the one flown at the end of Frontier?
Nice progress.

Thanks man . The monster is my favorite of the destroids. Something about the idea of a walking battleship turret..I do wish they would do the Destroid Cheynne from Macross Zero/ Frontier though. It has the tomahawk/defender lineage to it.
That being said i have made more progress. Lots of file work and cleanup on these parts. Alot of clamping due to shoddy hobby lobby super glue and i have gotten the gun clamshell assembled. The barrel assembly is not glued in yet as there id detail painting that will be needed in there. Since i am making this one NON variable i am also fixing certain things to make the model cleaner. Removing un needed clamp and clip bits and filling in the screw attachment holes. SO far though it looks like this will be impressive in size though. The gun parts measure about 10 and 1/2 inches together. Not bad for a 1/100 kit....Still tiny compared to the 1/72 HWR-00-MKII i have awaiting refurb.

It appeared in the game VFX-2. A macross game on PS systems in Japan. As stated above VB means Variable Bomber. As such it has more in common with a VF-1 Valkyrie or VF/YF-19 than the original monster. The gerwalk mode for the VB6 is the "Monster" It also has a battroid and bomber"flight" mode.

Things are looking a bit more monster like. As this kit is meant to be variable there are alot of hollow areas in it. Such as the area under the main guns. It is also difficult to see how things would really align. On the second one i aim to block off some of these open areas and see about making it resemble a static kit more. There really is no way to make it variable (transformable) The joints were not designed with any method of locking in place. I tried to see if i could get some areas moveable but no luck really. The feet will set better once its attached to a base and some slight heat applied to settle the model. So far though i am pretty happy with it. Could it be better...sure. But it wont be me who makes it better this time around.

Would love to see this thing in 1/72.
Any ideas who made the resin kit in the first place?
