Forgot...

- Thickened saucer to represent at least one extra saucer deck. The usual Franz Josef idea of flipping a saucer undersides to make an upper saucer never looked right to me.
- Built up aft saucer to represent extra engineering sections for the second saucer-mounted warp core, enlarged impulse engines plus command and intelligence areas for the admiral and his staff.
- Fore and aft firing torpedo tubes (the model will get aft mounted tubes later today. She had them until the DANGED PROGRAM CRASHED!).
- Standard phaser bumps to be added in the usual positions.
- Megaphasers to be added (he, he, he... Eat this, Klingon!).

That's my basic idea of a Trek dreadought. Its more powerful than a Connie, thought not physically much larger. It does, however, have significantly greater internal volume devoted to shield generators, extra powerplants, etc., to allow it to hang in a firefight with multiple enemy ships for vastly longer time periods than a stock Connie. Its certainly upgunned, but not obscenely so.

Thoughts? I think the bridge area perhaps should be expanded in size; it looks slightly underscale to me.

The model will be printed in 1/1000th to cut costs by:
a) making things smaller, thus reducing print volume.
b) making it possible to use the Polar Lights nacelles, and possibly the sensor dish.

Thanks for looking.

Bob

Real nice work! I'd say leave the bridge the size it is. The Admiral will be in the CIC anyway.

I recontoured the after hull. The shuttlebay opening looked too small and the hull too pinched aft. The pylons were increased in angle so the nacelles will be closer to the saucer and still not violate Roddenberry's Rule. She's nearly done. I want to keep her close to the TOS design ethos of less is more. She just needs some filleting and vents on the pylons, phasers, the extended aft firing torpedoes, and a new hangar door, then whatever odd surfacing strikes my fancy.

Oh, and her name will be, "USS Dreadnought."

Now, like the Miranda, I just need bucks for printing!

The shuttle bay changes are very noticeable and for the better.

Thanks! I did another small recontouring last night. Its barely noticeable, but to my eyes the after end looks better. I'll add the phaser bumps and the shuttle bay tonight, and then she's pretty much done. In 1/1000th, I'm not keen on trying to add nav lights as they'd be so small.

Thoughts? Anything obvious I'm missing?

Thanks,

Bob
