Wow, nice. Random comments, in random order:

1) The aztecing looks good for a first attempt. How much time and effort to get this far? How much more effort to make stencils that work the way you want? Keep us posted, please, as this has (IMHO) much crossover appeal...
2) What is the source of the "pod"...?
3) "agree, disagree, think I'm nuts? Answers on a post card"-- what's your mailing address?

The most time was spent waiting for paint to dry as with 4 stencils I had to repeat 3 times for the 12 panels oh and the blearly eye time trying to remember which order they go in. Possible solutions are a) use a low tack glue/spray mount and hope it doesnt leave any residue or b) use frisket paper so I would need 12 of them and work out the settings I would need for the silhouette to cut through the top layer only and then all the picking and aligning

The file is saved so not much computer time required to re shuffle and cut

I might give it a go with these settings

first try with the frisket and it cut too deep, I still think it'll be useable and I have a spare set I can use elsewhere when I get it off the cutting mat

This is a really cool design. You're doing a great job interpreting its lines and I love the modifications you've made to the original concept - particularly the aft bridge extension and the mini secondary hull.

It seems to me that, from the first version of the FASA design, to the several subsequent attempts at making sense of its geometry (including this one), this ship doesn't easily lend itself to existence in 3 dimensions. In all fairness, any one of these interpretations could be valid in essence, as the original possesses some really weird, almost intentionally ambiguous, lines.

They were the images I was looking at when I was trying to work out the shape of the pods my view is as all of them are different maybe they are interchangeable there could be many designs of pod depending on the mission

That's a fine start to a fine crew!

Several of us have 'crews' for our favorite ships - maybe we could start a database of some sort

Could be a plan, you would need to establish a standard format and image size then just go from there
