Default 38"Executor w/Lights For Client

I've been working on this for a while now, Its a commission Build of the 38 Inch Executor Class Star Destroyer I produce ( Production of this kit is stopping on September 1, fyi Its time to move on to other projects now )

I still have a TON of fibers left to run in this beast before i can start construction , i hope to finish it in the next ten days or so.

The small parts were hollowed out and drilled for fibers on my mill, I scanned the parts on a flat bed scanner, imported the scan into auto cad, laid the windows out and programmed the tool paths in a program called Art cam and Clamped the parts into my mill and let the mill do the work for me when at all possible. I placed the parts between two strips of Balsa wood when clamping them into the mill to avoid damaging the thinned out resin.

All told this model has approximately 5000 Lights for Fiber optic strands, I don't have an accurate count Just an estimate based on the numbers given in the computer, and a guess on how many i drilled by hand.

The base is constructed out of MDF with some plumbers fittings to support the model solid. the pvc was temporary until i could get to town to get metal fittings to support the build. I built a fast 9v battery box with sliding drawer for the power supply, the client requested battery power not wall wart for this one.

The main body of the kit was first drilled with a 3/4" Spade bit to remove large amounts of material fast, then i went back with a dremel and carved the rest out with a #115 HSS cutter. The same method was usd for the smaller routed out areas to either side of the center strip only with smaller 1/4 and 1/8 inch spade and HSS bit.

Final Pics of the Old Catalyst Creations ( Now Evans Lighting) production run of the Ravenstar Super Star Destroyer.

The engine bells were left off for shipping and installed by the client once they received the Display.

I estimate around 5500 lights in the whole model.

Hope you enjoy.
