this is module number 4 , of 5. this is the end part of the whole 10 foot long assembly...
there will be a working lighthouse Im scratchbuilding, on top of the hill thats in work.

(third pic)heres a cafe thats going on this 10 foot module.

(fourth pic)a cat for the cathouse....sorry its so "fuzzy"....its hard to get a pic of something so small. but heres a vender waving to a client...the figure went together surprisingly well, and fast too
and when she was done, and mounted.....
I had to force my camera to get a pic.

a site specific building I started this morning, this took about an hour so far, for module 2.

starting on the right with the newest addition, the scratchbuilt cafe, then a kit building, then a scratchbuilt service station. this is looking from the waters edge "inland", to the right is module one, to the left is module 4 with the lighthouse.

furniture builder, on the corner of module one. mind the shark...

newest update...got a morning engine rolling past the vacant lots and Quality Fur-niture, strange lookin engineer tho...this module will be done very soon, then I can proceed to module 2 and finish 3 and 4. hoping to be able to get a shot of all of them assembled together in a few weeks, so you can see the whole 10 foot long thing...

a coffin tank type water tower for along the track , module one. it goes pretty much where its sitting.

lil overview on the factory corner, got lots more scenery done...

an overview with a bit more done...

more scenery done, and a new scratchbuilt building, a candy shop. this place actually existed in this form in Ocean Park in 1910, sign and all.

another new building scratchbuilt, roof will be an odd pitched thing...

last photo, last business is built and in place...now, what colours to paint it, and what sort of business will go in there...
I like false front buildings, they tend to look neat and have lots of architechtual interest to them, yet behind the front wall, are simple and straightforward.
in the front (with backs to you) a gun shop and tackle, and the two on the right are doctors offices. across the street, on the left, a barber shop, to the right, undecided, candy shop and the corner...a chocolate and coffee shop.

Wow Sean.
This looks very good.
Ive always been a railroad fan, especially modern american like
CONRAIL (sadly gone...) and Norfolk Southern.
But with no space in my basement,
it will be a dream.

thx...you could always build a point to point bookshelf layout...6 feet long and 8 inches wide is a lot of space to pose a favorite locomotive on...

Default Re: HO structures

the one on the far left, tan is a DPM building...the white one in the middle is scratchbuilt,
the larger red brick factory is also scratchbuilt, the pigeon coop on the roof I stole from a kit, but the water tower is scratched, this building will have dormers and a fire escape down this face, and on the right there will be a large porch.

this is all in HO scale...

factory update, still have lots to do on this one, but its getting closer to my vision of what I wanted. the open space on the narrow right end, will get a open porch with double doors.

Contact Caffine soap factory is done...down to the ad sign for the wall...and details once in place on the layout.

...and now, here we have pics of the layout. its 20x20 feet...going rapidly too once the benchwork was up. I have begun building scenery as well...

new pic of the bridge sorta in place...

and new pic of the layout, heres a shot of all those modules I had been building, semi in place. they all moved to the layout today and got assembled together for the first time. I wanted to get a shot with all the stuff in place, but cant till other things are done first, and they are on more stable legs. the dam and bridge are to the right of this view, yards in the far backgrounds...

this is a scratchbult curved iron trestle for a specific location, will be supported by two or three metal towers set on top of concrete pilings. its about 26 inches in length. oh ya, it will be about 12 inches above the river its crossing...

the locomotive is a Great Northern C-1

here is the concrete piling, the dam outflow pipe and pad, and the tower under construction that goes on the piling to support the bridge. one of two, this is the south side of the river...the brass loco is the C-1 again, and the tiny loco on the bridge is a 2 1/2 guage mining loco I just got.

south towers done and on the piling. HO scale, scratchbuilt, the piling is mounted on a concrete base thats part of the powerhouse foundation, the gren pipe is the outflow pipe from the turbine, from the dam. the stack of CDs is about where the north tower will go, on a concrete piling. bridge deck is almost 14 inches above the water. dams top will be about level with the bridge deck, and about 18 inches away, towards the outside of the curve. curve is 28 inch.

new pics of the bridges, and the modules all assebled together for the first time

the dual track ballasted deck box beam bridge from the same canyon, in the foreground of the last photo. close to a 1/4 done, but I just ran outta strips.

dual track bridge ready to weather put on roadbed and install. loco is an SP&S 4-4-2

cast iron water column for servicing locomotive tenders, circa 1925. fed underground from a remote water tower, usually located at the edge of a yard.

Vile Body WIP. harbor salvage tug. kudos if you get the ref...

here we see the happy crew driving the...wait, who is driving??
still no guess on the ref where the boats name comes from...

all the rails are on, bell, whistle, roof, windscreens...lights work, but I couldnt get a pic of it illuminated. down to the rigging, hull paint and the spotlight on the cabin roof.

Default Re: HO structures

Washington state ferry Leschi, circa 1931...what you see is the hull with the second deck or passenger cabin, posed on it. the tube is the funnel, middle are the stairways from the auto deck, and the square with a door in it is secure acces to the wheel houses that will be above. mine will be 30x80 feet...considerably smaller then the actual Leschi was.

third pic'll give ya a better idea of where its going...decks made, and plates are scribed on, lower superstructure ends are in place, and ready for paint, passenger deck beams are on, upper wheelhouse decks posed so you can see how that goes, shark, Ford and crewman for scale...

pax cabins all done, just needs white paint on the outside. got a few passengers aboard, think Ill pose her as arriving...veiw of the inside...port side is ready to put on, but its easier to see what ive done inside with it off. cant really see it, but the structure under the pax deck is all there too, all the steel webbing youd expect to see from the auto deck looking up.

wheelhouse deck coming right along...

shes as done as shes gonna get for a while, got a few things on order, ie lifeboats and davits, few assorted details and the doors for the wheelhouses. so, here it is, more or less done. enjoy
HO guage

more progress on the ferry, the third life boat goes where you see it, but I wouldnt wanna use it right now...pax deck stantions and railings going on, gotta paint the other side panel still, then finish the railings. still to add, davits, spotlights on the wheelhouse roofs, boats, stantions on the auto deck, bulwarks on the auto deck, lighting, so on...

garage is done save for the sign I have to hand paint, that goes between the windows above the service bay. the service bay now has a full detailed interior, as you can see, with a lift, wheel and tire equipment, banners on the back wall, toolboxes and workbench, air hose laying on the floor...the brown truck is a 28 ford, and the yellow ford is finally finished, I finally put the interior in it, found the front bumper n put it on , did a bunch of finish and touchup painting...

got a wild hair up my ass and decided to scratchbuild a car....from the frame up. its not really anything specific, but I went with a Ford styled frame, and went from there. I had some parts laying around...wheels, radiator, seat, and just had to use them, heres the result. wip

SHOO! I have no snacks for you, go...bad shark
lots done on the car too...in between my carpet sharks begging last night.
