Default X15-A2

48th scale Specil Hobby X15 A 2. not a bad kit, lots of resin parts, fits mostly well together, needed a lil help here n there, instructions lack a tad bit of detail, decals are great.
started on this last night round 2300, quit when my dog came and got me at 0200, and picked it back up again this evening from 1700 till now, with a power outage in between. Im doing the A2 as from a flight in 1966, round November, it will have the tanks on it, orange and red scheme, one of many they used. Im depicting one of MANY ablative compound paint tests they did, thats the discoloured nose, with the full window open...LOTS more paint work to do, and the rest of the decaling. cockpits still unpainted, as Im still researching the paint scheme for that flight, but its an awesome detailed cockpit. there will be an expiriment mounted on the airframe as well, but I dont have that built yet...

Nice work! I like the X-15 very much and have one of these kits in 1/32nd scale in the stash.

wow...32nd?? I wanna see the kit! snap me a pic of it all spread out? is there lots of PE? resin? ohhh...*drools* I may have to look for one of them...very few aviation subjects get this much attention from me, and this plane is one. I fell in love with the F5 as well, simply from growing up on Minot AFB and being so close to all that flying stuff from the late 60s and early 70s. I got to see all sorts of cool stuff passing thru and at airshows there, and my dad was part of the missle command, so he could take me anywhere on base.

Here ya go:

http://resinilluminati.com/showthread.php?t=6706

[yoda voice] Be afraid....be very afraid...[yoda voice off]

It's a great piece when it's done, but it's not engineered as well as their 1/48 counterpart. The PE is nice and the cockpit is nice, but millions of test-fittings must be done to insure the cockpit fits correctly.

If the 15/A-2 wasn't my favorite bird, I would've mounted an Estes D12 in her ass and sent her into orbit.

By the way----the dolly is a real challenge, but a BLAST to build!

Im already on a short budget, and the E2 in 48th is first on that list, as I missed it once, and its now reissued, but for how long...its the last plane I need to fill my CAG from 1990.

Neb's is probably the best build of the large scale X-15 that I have seen in years. It's epic.
