I promised Will of Firefox M31 that I'd post some shots of a Great White Shark I completed some years ago. This was the work of a young sculptor I met at a strange little now defunct shop in Burbank called Creature Features. His kit was hollow cast pink resin. This thing is over 3' in length and absolutely accurate according to a marine biologist friend of mine. The original kit included a tiny female scuba diver about to be swallowed by shark. It wasn't up to the level of the shark, so I left it off.

Very realistic TD! Not that I've seen one that close up mind you - I get shivers just looking at your shark thinking what it would be like to come face to face with one of these in the wild... aaaahhhhgggg!

Thanks. I was able to get lots of pictures of these beasties, so reproducing the colors was relatively easy. One of the weird side effects of working on this kit was uneasy feelings I had handling the model. The sculptor's work was so real I often imagined that it was going to bite down while I painted it's mouth.

I remember seeing the kit with the little diver. Was it originally intended to represent a Megalodon?

Yes, the kit was originally supposed to represent the grandaddy of all sharks, Megaladon. The artist undoubtably used the Great White as the basis, since we have very little of the paleozoic shark to look at but its teeth and a suggestion of its jaws.

Very nice!!! I wonder if the whole Meg closing on a diver is based off the cover of the book by Steve Alten: Meg Primal Waters http://www.stevealten.com/primal_waters.htm

The model is old enough, that it might pre-date the cover art you linked to. If I had another one of these I'd be tempted to do sculpt of Robert Shaw, in the grasp. I may look for a 1/16th figure of a scuba diver or maybe a little larger just as a companion piece.
