Decided to create a new thread for this project as it sidelined from the 1:350 Sentinel design project.
In creating the TOS-era light cruiser - the insignia, uniforms, deck plans, command chair and now shuttlecraft - have come up for a custom redesign. It's not so much a "re-imagine" as a slight design enhancement of what might have been seen if the series had gone into a 7 or 8th season. The finished layout: ![]() Just for fun, I began a 'study model' of the new Type N shuttlecraft carved from a block of high density urethane foam roughly 5" in length. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Figures not to scale but I estimated the scale to be around 1:80. ![]() This will be cast in resin once the sculpting is finished. The impulse engine, pylon wings, nacelles and landing gear are next up. The goal will be to produce this in a larger 1/32 or 1/18 scale eventually. Oh Admiral, my Admiral!
Very cool design. Very sleek and futuristic, yet still classic. Those guys who make the fan shows should look to you for their ship designs.

Excellent start. But, then again, I would expect no less from an admiral.

*bump*
I figure that with the 1/350 Sentinel going whole-hog, this post needed some attention. |

Aww. That poor gal does need some attention from me since she's been bagged and shelved for the last few months. After seeing Dave's Heavy Shuttle beautifully mastered and reproduced, it's time for me to get her out the door and on her way to the Blapp-o-sphere!

It's not that we want you to sacrifice Sentinel time to work on this.
It's that we hope you develop an addiction to Red Bull and forego sleep until both Sentinel and shuttle are done. And Arielle. And Eagle. I mean Hood. Dangit. Although I must ask: why 1/80 scale? If the aforementioned 1/18 shuttle happens, it would be mahoosive, and it would be awesome. ![]() |

Clarke Kubrick Dullea Lockwood Sylvester or Bowman Poole Floyd Smyslov if you're afraid nobody knows who Sylvester is, Lockwood or Dullea are instantly recognizable... especially with Lockwood being such a prominent cross-over... ![]() Last edited by tsenecal; 09-15-2016 at 02:25 PM. |
