Default 1/350 TOS Klingon D7

A dream has come true! Well, TWO dreams. First, I am modeling again...second, I obtained a 1/350 D7A. It is from Steve Niesen.

Long story short, if you don't have one of these but want one, get it! You won't regret it.

Thanks, guys!

This is a hell of a kit. The only issue is that it definitely needs an armature of some sort. The engines are solid resin, so the main hull needs reinforcing to keep from warping or sagging. Same with the area where the boom attaches to the hull. The boom is solid resin and the bulb is heavy and it puts an ungodly amount of torque on the attachment point. Fortunately, he casted the boom around a piece of 1/4" brass tubing. I took a piece of 7/32" tubing, coated it with CA, and rammed it into the tubing in the neck for extra stiffness.

I had attached the boom to the mounting block and the engines to the hull with screws and placed the model on a stand. This gave me ideas on where reinforcements are needed.

Great kit, this is going to be good. I got the K'Tinga about a year back waiting in the stash.

First, welcome the Hell back!!!

Second, I see some major gappage on the hull, is that due to the nacelles and pylons sagging?

Yes - the parts will join up nicely once the sagging has been taking care of.

How long has it been since you've built anything?

Just asking. I've gone through a good period too recently without building anything. Feels great to be back into the hobby.
Nice D7 ya got there.
