Looks like you just might get your wish. I'm not sure you'll be happy with the scale (initially they'll be tabletop gaming scale)... Right now I have CGI modelers agreeing to work with me for:

Hero Valkyrie and Razer Valkyrie, TNS Galactica (including a variant with her armor) and a half-dozen TNS-style fan-based Battlestars. I'm still working on TNS Pegasus.

Nominal scale is going to be 1/15000 and assumes the TNS Galactica is 1414m (which, IIRC, is the canon length). Everything else will be based off that. When a ship is described as being "twice the size of..." I take that to mean volume.

Yes, I'd like to do much larger versions...say, 1/2500 but 1) I personally likely could not cast a model that large and 2) I'm not sure I want to grow something that large (would be very expensive to grow).

I think that you could easily make a number of the Rag Tag Fugitive Fleet ships in 1/2500 or even 1/4100-ish scale using your techniques, David. They're relatively small. You could even go with some non-canon ship designs that would likely do well, methinks. You could even use the length for the TNS Colonial Movers as given by one of the folks who worked at Zoic - length of 277m - and make an accurately scaled CM at 1/4100 scale, which would give us a model at a length of L: 2.66" / 6.76cm.

If you find a ship size in meters and want to convert it to millimeters for the model, drop the last three digits of the scale factor and divide the fullsize by the scale. Frex, converting 1414m to 1/15000 scale = 1414 divided by 15 = 94.27mm (a shade under 4 inches).

If there's a pre-existing mesh that I can get the author's permission to use for this, then I'll consider making a model of it.

Not to be a bummer but there is already another vendor that has the Valkyrie out in 1/2500 scale, the berserk is next followed by the Gallactica and Pegasus. Just making sure you knew about those

Yes, Bad Azz did the model and it's sold through JT Graphics. It's a very cool model. It's not 1/2500 like they advertise (unless you believe that Valkyrie is ~550m), but it is an exceptionally cool model.

The Valkyrie kit that is sold under the Bad Azz brand name is based off of the original ship we see in "Hero", which was actually a bit smaller than 550m, IIRC. The Valkyrie-type that we see in "Razor" is actually upscaled almost twice the original size for the scenes in the Scorpion Shipyards. I actually like the thinking that it's closer to half the size of a full battlestar like TNS Galactica instead of a whole lot smaller, but still considered a "battlestar". I'd think it was more like a destroyer/escort instead of a battlestar.

Anyhow, I've decided that the BA Valkyrie kit I purchased at WonderFest this year is the "Razor" version and is more like a cruiser. That way it fits in fairly nice w/my R-M and TC battlestars, and my Fantastic Plastic Berzerk and Defender models, as well as my kitbashes based off of the R-M battlestar kit. I've never figured out what the scale would come to for a "real" length, tho.
