Default Kennedy Space Center yesterday

Saw a few neat things.....

That's me in one of my favorite photo spots...First time I walked out those doors and saw this, I actually got all choked up!

They had a few models on display, but they could sure uyse some help from some of the guys on this site! (Or at least hit ebay for some cooler stuff for the displays!)

This stuff was kind of sad looking....

They had a few "larger scale" ones to show too....

Saturn 3 and my son-in-law Steve....

The first time I walked into the Saturn V visitor's center, I went through the cargo doors ih the main grotto that puts you dead center amidships to that beastie.

You can barely see each end of her from that perspective-----I never realized how big she was . Every hair on my arms stood straight up, and my eyes teared up as well.

When my wife saw the look on my face, her eyes teared up too.

If your an American, and you pay taxes, you should be given one free ticket, lodging, and gas money to see this place.

As a testimony to exactly what this country used to be about---and what it could be again.

I've never been more humbled by a human accomplishment.

Glad you had a good time and GREAT pics!

I've spent quite a few days there photographing and researching. I never tire of it. Many of the models you see are contractor produced items from back in the day. They might not match what flew but they are artifacts.

I miss it now, haven't been in four years....

Once, just once, I want to see that Saturn 5. I want to check out those biblically-sized J2 engines and imagine their 2 tons of fuel a second, Hand of God power outputs.

Have you guys seen the DVD with the ultra slo-mo Engineering footage of each S5 launch? Wombat lent it to me and wow! Even the launch audio is pitch-corrected to match the footage. That engine crackle and sub-30Hz bass is bloody amazing in a home theatre situation.

Thanks for sharing Tim!

Geez, we're all a bunch of mushy wussies huh??!! LOL!!!

Glad the sentiment is shared by many. In my opinion, it is truly one of mankinds greatest achievements, and one of the wonders of the world. Tall buildings are impressive, but this is like a tall FLYING building!!!! I think if I worked down there, I'd go sit in that building on my lunch breaks every day and just look at it while munching a sandwich. What could be more satisfying?

Heh, us blokes have an emotional attachment to machines that mystifies the female gender! Damn, I got chills after seeing your first pic of those engines. Such a short service life, but what a way to go!

Wussies? YOU BET!

I told my wife the same thing----if I'd not met her, I'd be happy with a broken down mobile home on the beach, driving a rusty '71 Vega to work everyday just to be a Janitor there.

Well----sounds like I've got my retirement planned out!

Chris, I've always been fascinated by this stuff. Not since Roman times has the human race stepped backwards in terms of technological achievements, but with the cancellation of the moon program that is exactly what has happened.

These pictures show the apex of Human achievement, and are nothing short of awe inspiring! Those Saturn V F1 engines are truly a wonder!!!

Thank you so much for sharing what must have been a fantastic experience.
