Default EDF Nike = DUN!

I've been bitten by the modeling bug again. It happens, so I go with it.

I figured my Interceptor needs a big sister, so I pulled down one of the Andromeda's from the ToDo shelf. As the heading says, her name will be Nike.

My first task was fixing what I think is a 'stubby' hull, so I added an inch forward and a half inch to the stern. That was a lot of cutting of styrene and super-gluing, but the end result is very cool. And strong, almost as though the hull had never been cut in sixes!!

With the added length, she'll have more guns, both heavy shock canons and anti-spacefract guns as seen on the Yamato. Also those deep 'scoops' as seen here - http://www.geocities.jp/dourakuoyadi/index.html

She's far from done, but I'm feeling good about it.

Wow, the talent on this site never ceases to amaze me. So this is a space battleship in the Yamato universe?

Very kewel! I have one of the EDF genre hulls here, given to me by my friend jagdson from a WonderFest in the past. I've been wondering what to do w/it and had thought I could make something along the lines of a BSG destroyer, but figured it would look too much like what it is/was to be a serious 'bash. I like the thought of modifying the main hull as you've done with yours. Doubt I'll still go BSG with it.

Anyhow, very kewel and thanks for sharing. I love watching folks 'bash/modify existing models to fit their vision.

Can't wait to see her when she's finished. Absolutely love the ships of the Matsumotoverse. Now if only I could mod my "green" Arcadia to look like the "blue" version I've loved since I was a kid.

Thank you for the encouraging comments. Here are some more pics.
I'm working on the lower cowl, enlarging it and leaving space for a shuttle bay at the very back.

More progress! Here are the pics!

I molded some guns off of one of my other unbuilt Yamato's. Its the first picture in line. The others are build ups of the scoops and cowls, the shuttle bay at the rear and the completed wave motion engine exhaust.

Now, I'm just filling in the fairing at the back of the rear scoop and placing a door for the bay. After that, I can start work on putting the hull together!

Not at the moment, sorry. I'm rebuilding the rear scoop. I kept convincing myself that the other wasn't too big, but then I realized I had sanded it too smooth, where the forward one had sharper lines. I wanted to keep them similar and realized it was a great time to scrap the old and do another, smaller one.

Pics soon, I promise.

This is just a small update. I built another rear scoop. The other was too big and I ended up sanding it too smooth.
The new one is a lot better and better matches the fore scoop.

With those done, I can finally move onto something else...
