Default Bruckenlegepanzer Biber

1/72 revell kit. This bridge layer was designed a little differently. Most bridgelayers use a scissor type that lifts up into the air and then opens as it is put across the obstacle to be crossed. The Germans went a different route. They saw that the raised bridge could signal to observing forces that an enemy river crossing was in progress. The Biber design slides the bridge out. The lower section slides out first then the upper section comes down and locks in place. Then the entire assembly is rooled along the boom arm parallell to the ground until it is placed.

The revell kit is made to allow you to build it in one of 5 options to represent the bridge placement. Overall a nice kit. This is actually my second attempt as i screwed up the first. Details are well represented if a little flat. I am not happy with the molded on pioneer tools on the hull sides. Their 1/72 Leopard 1 series kits suffer the same setback. As it typical with current revell 1/72 armor , the kit fits well.

I wint be going as detail crazy as i do in my other builds. Im just adding the stuff that jumps out to me as missing from the few reference photos i see. I wont be correcting any shape issues( not that i can really see or care) I may go as far as to replace the pioneer tools if i can source some applicable ones from another kit. I also need to decide if i should display it carrying the bridge or have the bridge deployed and have it going over. The kit arm assemblies are not strong enough to support the bridge in deploying stances for a long time.

Heres some photos off the interwebs to show what i am building until i can get some piccies up. The one crossing the bridge in a demonstration/training course interests me.

As you can see the brigde can support the model. The model was also weighted with AVES in the hull in case i did decide to try building it in mid deployment. The Bridge pieces arent glued together yet either. It wouldnt be difficult to conform the suspension either. A base big enough to display it is another matter though.

Oddlyenough my media player is on random but it has been playing alot of Rammstein and Run Lola Run selections....Bet if i worked on a T-55 id get nothing but Tatu and the stalker soundtracks.

And yet again either bandwith is sucky as shit or the image uploader is fucking up...

I have a soft spot for engineering vehicles and this is a great choice.

Thanks guys. What are your opinions on how to display it. Id like to have it deployed over a river bank or a blown bridge. I have refs from Bosnia and Kosovo to draw on.
