I was just thinking about this build the other day when I was on Shapeways and saw the parts that were made for this model! Glad to see you're getting back to it, please give us updates on it.

Well, found that lil slip of paper with my password for this place.

A little news. No work on this since before the holidays. Re-orging my hobby room before I start bending plastic again. The big news is I just bought a large vac-form table capable of pulling all my hull masters. Should be here in March.

Before I do any vacuum forming, all my masters will be mounted on 1/4" plywood bucks to lift them off the table. This will prevent webbing over the masters for a clean pull.

Bunch of changes have taken place, and have neglected on sharing them here.
First, the profile of the upper saucer was incorrect. The ledge at the base of the dome was made horizontal on the Lunar Models/Collective kits where it actually tapers down slightly.

Some images correcting this...

Here, the entire dome is being cut away.

New edge ring being fabricated.

Here being ground down to a taper.

Filled and cemented to a new base.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds

Here' then dome is added back.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds

While I'm at it, the dome's profile doesn't match the ILM plans, so, I "screeded" in a new one.

Reassembling the upper saucer.

New tapered ring down first.

Then the new dome shape next.

Tweaking the new assembly before primer.

Primed

Here, the screed blade shows the new upper saucer profile with the corrected taper and the dome.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds

Next... The corrections made to the upper saucer's superstructure.

The Superstructure on top of the saucer, while heavily modified, was missing something. I've known something wasn't right for quite a while, but I was involved on other parts of the ship until it finally got my undivided attention.

*** This main shape is solid resin, and will be used as a master to pull a clear Vacuum Form superstructure for lighting purposes in the section of the hull. All other raised details are either scratch built, or 3D printed

Here is a scaled up image of the superstructure to my scale.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds

I found that the over-all section was the correct length and width, but just about everything in between bow and stern was 3/8" too far aft. Here is the traced image with the superstructure part laid on top. You can see the side chines protrude forward of the part. These are not the only issues. Everything in the raised detail needs to move forward.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds

Here, you can see I've already added the chine extensions, and the pencil markings of everything thing else that needs to move forward.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds

Here, the cutting and grinding is done.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds

First, relocating the Impulse crystal trench. Using my trench cap master as a template, I made a clay plug.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds

But first, a little clean up of the Impulse Crystal trench's leading edge with Apoxie Sculpt.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds

The clay plug is set in place...

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds

And the resin is poured in to back fill

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds

Here, the template is being made for the Impulse crystal trench's raised shroud detail.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds

Here, a paper template is being used to create the raised bridge platform and extended spine.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds

Anything not spine material is being ground away.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds

All raised detail plating is in place.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds

3D modeled and printed fins are in place.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds

Hopefully, remastering the Warp Nacelle pylons come next.
