And page 9 now up!
Brick wall finishing and flame ring sculpt.
http://www.ianlawrencemodels.com/wipgr9.html

And the edited highlights from the WIP page in pics...

Wall done and done in reddish colour requested.

Flame ring in raw sculpey.

Parted, baked off, primered...

and shoved back on for a final look see.

Those bits currently under 3lbs of rubber that's curing very nicely. Once done, then comes the clear resin casting.
Which will be the usual bundle of fun.

Go easy out there my brethren!

Thanks Scott.
The cast pieces didn't come out too badly. Nice diffuse surface and crystal clear inside so that should take care of things with the lighting deal.

PICS!

The bits as follows: Moulds with the original sculpey parts to the top left, didn't get them out without some breakage but that's par for the course.
Solid resin casts to the top right to completely clean out the moulds 'fore the clear stuff goes in and they came out without anything snapping so doubly good.

Clear stuff in and some hours later, we got this lot.

So shoved them all in rough position for a look see...as one tends to do.

And that's enough for one day I reckon

I thank ye sah!
Well it goes on...page 10, flame ring build and lighting hoo-ha.
http://www.ianlawrencemodels.com/wipgr10.html

The edited highlights in pics.
Main ring LEDs installed.

Testing...

Tamiya clear yellow, orange and red airbrush applied in that order. Decent coat of matt acrylic varnish to finish off.

Lighting test. Looks like it was shot in the dark, 'twas not but the brighness of the LEDs just made the exposure on me camera run away screaming and it's a fixed thing so there ya have it.

And the youtube vid of course!

Some tweaking to do and much more besides to get sorted but that's it so far

I thank ye all most kindly gang!
Right then, current update got the green light from the man so...
Page 11, Chain, billets, rock/lava base, lighting, dress rehearsal and PE brass plaque.
http://www.ianlawrencemodels.com/wipgr11.html

Thread pics for certain!

Rock/lava base to go inside the flame ring.

The man said the lava looked a bit flat so some epoxy and resin made it a bit more bubbly/rippled sort of deal.
Lightsheet and LED back lighting inclusive.

Sort of dress rehearsal, head flames and skull have been striped and awaiting recast with better clear resin.

PE brass plaque as is.

With a bit of black wash and polishing up.

So then, head flames and skull casting, then the base work finishing and the rather required final assembly hoo-ha.

More later!
Go easy out there all!

Hi. What brand clear resin did you use? The frosted surface is nice.

Thankyou gents!
Hatewall, i'm in the UK and I have no idea where you are in the world so the brand may not be the same one available to you in your locale.

For the flames, the clear resin I got is branded as Polycraft FC-6600 slow set polyurethane.

A 100 to 120% mix ratio, pot life of 45 to 50 mins and demould in 6 Hrs.
Optically clear and UV stable. Temprature sensitive so should be stored and used at 20 to 25 degrees C and is only recommended for addition/platinum cure rubber moulds.

For the bubbly lava thing, that was just ordinary two part clear epoxy glue 5 min cure stuff, dripped in to form small random sized domes and left to sort itself out then part filled/coated with the polyurethane clear and left to cure.
Then that was gone over with Plastikote glass frosting spray.

Simple but effective methinks.
