Default Battleship TENNESSEE (BB-43) 1945 version

This one is special to me. It's the first time I built anything from scratch, with the exception of the 40mm guns. Radars, cranes, catapult, main guns, 5-inch guns, all scratchbuilt. She is 1/96 scale, about 6 feet long, and was built for the BB-43 veterans, whom I love. I even married the daughter of one of them! The photo with the flag behind it is the last flag that flew aboard the TENNESSEE in 1946. What an honor! The entire superstructure is made from shaped styrene and brass, from the actual builders plans from the National Archives. She's now on display at the Pacific War Musuem, Fredericksburg, Texas, whom I donated her to. Enjoy!

I think that lady would be special to anyone who'd built it, she's gorgeous and then some.
Outstanding workmanship sir!

Big, grey and armed to the teeth...works for me!

Just as WWII fighters and aerial combat maneuvers influenced the look and feel of the fighters in Star Wars, I can also see here where they may have gotten some of the inspiration for the Star Destroyers.

The inspiration, and a ton of the parts. Not specifically the Tennessee Class, to my knowledge, but definitely other WW2 vessels like the Scharnhorst, the Ticonderoga, the King George V, the Bismarck, the Yamato, etc. There are bits of superstructure from these vessels scattered all over the Star Destroyer, particularly the 8-foot version from TESB.

As a Navy man and a native of Tennessee... all I can say is....

From 'Down Periscope', "She may not be the youngest girl at the ball, but she'll still turn a head or two!"

That boy's taken a lot of voltage....

One of my absolute favorite scenes is when Stingray, played by an elegant lady named Pampanito, sails out of that harbor, resplendent in her new paint.

Ahhh the smell of paint, fuel oil, and coffee...............and the sea.
